In my recipe iv not used yeast ........I've alternated it with baking powder..........and made on thava with a normal gas stove.......
Ingrediants :
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups plain low-fat yogurt
Salt required
Directions:
Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Sieve the mixer to avoid lumps in the dough.
Stir in the yogurt till the dough is too stiff , then
knead it in the bowl till it holds together well, adding more flour if
necessary.
Form the dough into a ball coat it with oil and put it in an bowl, covered with a towel, to rest for an hour or longer.
Take the dough out and cut it into 10 equal pieces. Form each into a ball and press the balls flat into round discs. You can use a roller to flatten but not more than 1/2 an inch.
Heat a large frying pan or griddle, either seasoned cast iron or a good non-stick finish.
Now place the flattend dough on the well hot thava .
It will puff up in places or all over, and there will be some blackish-brown spots on the bottom.lip to the other side can see boubles now its well cooked.
Remove naan from the thava. Now serve hot with gravy.
For Butter naan just brush with butter after it is cooked. This is much softer than a regular naan.
For Garlic naan ,grate garlic and put on the uncooked naan and then place on thava to cook at.This smells great.
