Ingredients :
Rice - 1 tumbler ( raw rice preferred )
Thur dal - 1/2 tumbler
Tamarind - small lemon size
Tomato - 1/2 sliced (ripen tomato preferred)
Small onion - 20 no's ( pealed) counts can be altered to your taste
Asafoetdia powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tbsp
Musturd - 1 tbsp
Coriander - 2 tbsp chopped
Curry leaves -1 handful
Red chilli - 2 no's ( long red chilli ..break it to 4 pieces)
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Ghee - 3 tbsp
Ingredients to grind masala :
Coconut grated - 4 tbsp
Dhaniya seeds - 4 tbsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek - 1 tsp
Gram dal - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 5 no's
Dry roast all the ingredients and grind to smooth paste.
Preparation :
Now put rice & dal together wash it an set aside for about 1hour.
Add rice ,dal, tomato & water 4 tumbler then set in pressure cooker for 3 vissle and put in on slow flame for 10 min to smash and cook..only then it will taste well.
Meanwhile heat a pan add oil 1 tbsp and ghee 1tbsp ....and when hot put in the musturd let it splutter....Then asafoetida..then comes in red chilli ,onion & Curry leaves ..add lill bit of water for the onion to cook.
Open the cooker add turmeric powder...then tamarind paste & salt.Let this boil for about 2 - 3 mins. Now add the masala paste we prepared. Then add the items we sauted in pan.Mix well.
Now heat 1 tbsp of oil and 2 tbsp of ghee in a pan and just pour over the finished recipe and garnish with coriander leaves.Close the vessel.Mix it and serve.
Serve hot with ghee toping on it.....papad is a gud combination....onion ritha also goes well with this.....curd must be fresh.... To taste good.

If you are Interested in adding veggies....
Prefer :
Carrot, beans,green peas,drumstick.
Now how to add......
First separately cook the vegetables... Then when we mix all ...add the veggies....stir smooth or your veggies will break.Now serve hot .
