Dal rasam






Ingredients :

Thur dal - 3 tbsp
Water - 2 1/2 tumbler 
Red dry chilli long - 2 no's
Tamarind - 1 small ball
Rasam powder - 2 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp
Garlic -  2 no's large
Curry leaves - 1 cup
Coriander - 1 cup
Mustard - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tbsp
Jaggery - 1 tsp

Preparation :

Cook thur dal with  1 1/2 tumbler of water for 3 vissle and slow down flame for 10 minutes... Then remove off flame.
When its cool open remove dal water and keep separately ....and take dal separately.

Now take a thick bottom vessel..... Add cooked dal, tamarind, red chill long ( break it into 3 pieces each),garlic( smash with skin), asafoetida, chilli powder,dhaniya powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves 1 tbsp,coriander 1 tbsp, salt,rasam podi, jaggery.....add lill bit of water and smash the ingredients with hand ..smash well and add 1 tumbler ....and boil this to reduce to half of the water content.

Now heat oil in a pan...temper mustard.. Then jeera..and remove of flame and add curry leaves.....now add this to the boiled ingredients......

Now add the dal water...to the boiled ingredients.... Boil for 2 or 3 times....no need to refuse quantity by boiling...this is to just mix the aroma.

Now remove off flame......transfer to serving dish......and add coriander leaves...and cover immediately.... To avoid the fragrance escape......

Let the ingredients settle down....you can have this as a dal soup.....which iv displayed for this recipe.
