Keerai Vadai ( Amaranth or Siru kerai )


 Keerai Vadai ( Amaranth / Siru Keerai )



Ingredients :

Urad Dal - 200 gms
Onion - 1 ( large finely chopped )
Green chilli - 1 ( finely chopped )
Amaranth / Siru Keri - 1 cup ( finely chopped )
Salt - 1 tsp
Water - to soak + few drops to grind
Oil - 2 cup
Foil sheat or plastic sheat - 1

Preparation :


Soak 200 gms of urad in immersable amount of water for one hour .
Drain all water and grind it.
Sprinkle water when you grind.
Salt to be added jus before the vadai is going to be cooked.
Add salt to the batter and whisk the batter to get foamy.
Now add onions , green chillies , ginger and  the chopped Siru keerai / Amaranth and mix well.
Now heat about 2 cups of oil in a pan.
Then take the batter ( a small ball )
You may need a plastic sheet or foil paper
Wet your hands.
Wipe the paper with water .
Drop a ball of batter on the paper.
Make a small hole in the middle of the dough you've dropped.
Jus take and bend the sheet .
The dough will drop on your hand( hands to be wet) .
Then drop in hot oil.
Turn now and then.
When golden brown remove from oil and rest on a tissue paper.
Serve hot.
Enjoy be this with a cup of tea or coffee.
